"She's 8, but tall for her age." If you've ever said this while ordering clothes online, this guide is for you. Age labels are a starting point, not a guarantee — every child grows differently, and a size that fits one 8-year-old swims on another. Here's how to get it right the first time.
Measure once, order confidently forever
Take five minutes with a measuring tape (a tailor's soft tape, not the metal one from the toolbox). Note these three numbers:
Chest: around the fullest part of the chest, tape snug but not tight, arms relaxed at the sides.
Shirt length: from the highest point of the shoulder down to where you want the kameez to end.
Trouser length: from the waist to the ankle.
Write these inside your phone notes with the date. Children outgrow numbers fast — re-measure every few months.
Age vs height: trust the numbers
If your daughter is tall or petite for her age, order by her measurements, not her birthday. A tall 8-year-old is often happier in a 9–10 size with sleeves that actually reach her wrists. When you're between two sizes, take the bigger one — girls grow into clothes, never out of the smaller size gracefully.
Use the clues on our product pages
On Bintay product pages you'll find the size chart for that article, and on many products a line like "Model is 15 years old, wearing 15/16 size" — compare the model's build with your daughter's and you'll rarely go wrong. Fabrics matter too: lawn sits looser and cooler, winter cotton is a touch snugger.
And if it still doesn't fit?
It happens — that's exactly why Bintay has a 7-day easy exchange. Keep the article unused with its tags on, message us, and we'll swap the size. You also pay cash on delivery and can open the parcel before paying, so there's no risk in trying.
